{VIDEO INTERVIEW BELOW}

We, parents, strive to approach our children from a place of respect, but sometimes their experience may be a little bit different than what we realize.

I recently had the honor of interviewing Dr. Linda Silverman, Clinical Psychologist and Director of Gifted Development Center in Westminster, Colorado, and asked her this question: What one thing can parents do now to help their gifted child to thrive in the future? She responded with one word - RESPECT. In this video interview, Dr. Silverman explains why she believes that respect is the most important thing that we can communicate to our children and some ways for doing so.

This video is based on Dr. Silverman's section of the free ebook, "Helping Gifted Kids Thrive: Insights from the Experts" which can be downloaded here. guidingbright.lpages.co/expertebook/

  1. Linda and Tina, thank-you! Wonderful to hear the importance of respecting your gifted child. So many feel powerless and helpless in environments where choices are made for them and around them. Their loss of control over their learning can make them intensely frustrated and their intensity and sensitivity can be exacerbated by these feelings of frustration. It is a circle of feeling and reaction. Taking time to respect and listen to their experiences and feelings is paramount for parents, teachers and therapists. Again, thank you for your wise words based on understanding and years of experience.
