Gratitude is a part of our bedtime routine. It's simple. We each take turns saying something that we are grateful for from the day. Interestingly enough, we have found that the toughest days hold the greatest opportunity for gratitude. We have to dig deep to find the good.
The other night, we interrupted the eldest child's homework to share gratitude so that our youngest could go on to bed. Here are the words of gratitude from our child still in the midst of homework at 9:00pm. "I am grateful because although I have so much to do, I know I'm going to get it done and will be able to have a good time tomorrow."
Aleluia!
This is quite a switch from the old mantra of, "I have so much to do! I'll never get it done!" Followed by a meltdown of catastrophic proportions.
My gratitude? Gratitude of course!
