Hello everyone! This week, we are celebrating Thanksgiving in the United States. In my role as a parent as well as a child and family therapist specializing in giftedness, I am deeply grateful for the children who add so much beauty to my life. It was with them in mind, that I wrote this poem of gratitude. Despite how crazy and stressful things can get sometimes, may we always see the gifts that lie within.

Colors of You
by Tina Harlow
Grownup life
so black and white
overshadowing
the colors of you
Your Intensity
fiery red
The root of your passion
enabling you to muster
the courage to fight
when the right reason
renders all other options
useless
Your Sensitivity
pure white
extending warmth
understanding
unsolicited empathy
to a world
consumed
with self-gratification
Your Curiosity
sunshine yellow
ceaseless questions
a bridge from what is
to what ought to be
Seeking…
essential ingredient
of change
Your anxiety
army green
misunderstood
a moral compass
guiding you
to authenticity
internal resolution
and growth
Your perfectionism
icy blue
glacier pool
splashing frustration
enduring polarity
making way
for the emergence
a masterpiece
of the soul
Your Sense of Justice
penetrating purple
eyes that see
beyond arbitrary rules
to what is right
what is fair
what is optimal
what is needed
For the brilliant colors of you, may I always be grateful.
