When most individuals think about gifted children, academics and talent comes to mind. This focus tends to overshadow the rich, complex inner world that often collides head-on with societal norms and expectations; creating social and emotional firestorms that are difficult to contain. It is, therefore, imperative that we teach social and emotional skills to gifted children.

I had the honor of interviewing Dr. Michael Postma, Founder of Gifted & Thriving, Executive Director of SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted) and an expert in the field of giftedness and neurodiversity,  In this video interview, Dr. Postma offers some suggestions on teaching gifted children social and emotional skills. This is from Dr. Postma's section of the FREE collaborative ebook, "Helping Gifted Kids Thrive: Insights from the Experts."

Dr. Postma will soon be releasing online courses for parents, educators and clinicians of gifted and 2e children, through his business, "Gifted & Thriving." He can be reached at mpost97@gmail.com.  Click on the short video interview below for Dr. Postma's suggestions!

Have a wonderful week!
